Thursday, March 18, 2010 - Station 21-1 was dispatched for a reported dwelling fire during the late hours of Tuesday night. Dispatch reported that the caller advised their home was filling up with smoke. Chief Chew arrived on location minutes after dispatch and reported heavy smoke showing and that all occupants were out of the dwelling. Ladder 2116 arrived first and stretched a 2” hand line through the front door. Crews made entrance to the dwelling and located a fire well off in the living room and in a bathroom. Other crews proceeded to the basement division where they were faced with heavy obstructions which were blocking access to another fire. After clearing a path in the basement crews got a quick knockdown of the basement fire. The fire was then placed under control and crews performed overhaul. The fire was investigated by the Gloucester County Fire Marshal’s Office. Other companies on location included Paulsboro, East Greenwich, Logan Twp., Woolwich, and GC EMS. There were no reported injuries.
