Monday, November 16, 2009 - Station 21-1 was dispatched for a dwelling fire on Ashton Drive in the hours of the early afternoon. The owner called 9-1-1 and reported a bedroom fire which he thought was extinguished. 2116 was first on location and reported a smoke showing from the rear of the dwelling. Ex-Chief Jim Schmidt took the role as the incident commander and confirmed a working fire. Crews from 2116 made entry into the dwelling with a charged 2” hand line and proceed to the second floor bedroom. Rescue 2118 arrived on location shortly and place ground ladders on all sides of the dwelling for egress. Crews made a quick knockdown of the fire and began overhaul. After finding no extension of fire in the dwelling fans were placed into service to eject the smoke. The investigation of the fire was handled by the GC Fire Marshall’s Office. Other stations on location included Paulsboro, East Greenwich, Logan Twp., Woolwich and GCEMS.
